What are the different visa services in Thailand?

Foreigners should be able to concentrate on the fascinating aspects of being an tourist and beginning a new overseas life. Yet the practicalities of visas and immigration law must also be taken care of.

Visa Renewal

The visa stamp in your passport tells you when you may enter a country and for how long, but it does not limit your allowed time of stay in the country. Beyond the expiration of the visa stamp, you will be in the country as long as your immigration status and arrival record remain valid. If your visa will soon expire, you will have to make an appointment at the nearest local immigration for the process of visa renewal.

Visa Extension

You can extend your visa by applying at any immigration office in Thailand if you decide that you want to stay longer than the allotted time. For a visa extension, the regular fee is 1900B. If the extension is dealt with before the visa expires, those issued with a standard stay of 15 or 30 days can extend their stay by 30 days.

90 day reporting

You are required by Thai Immigration to report the present address every 90 days for foreigners staying in Thailand for a period longer than 90 consecutive days keeping a Non-Immigrant Visa or Extension of Stay. Within 15 days prior to, or within 7 days after, your 90-day duration expires, the foreigner must file this report. Reporting may be performed in person, through an agent, by mail.

What are the benefits of visa services?

It’s almost impossible not to fall under the influence of its people after one or more trips to Thailand, their smiles, their customs and their beautiful real estate properties.

Many visitors make the choice to extend their stay after their visa expires.

As well as holders of expiring visas, this process affects all those who do not have a visa and who want one. You have to travel to a Thai consulate or embassy in a neighboring country to apply for a visa in order to do so.

Crossing a land boundary is another visa-renewal option. On your return, a new 15- or 30-day visa exemption, depending on your nationality, will be given.

Key Points:

  • For those who do not have a visa and who want one
  • Have to travel in a neighboring country to apply for a visa
  • Visa exemption will be given on your return

If your job is terminated during your stay in Thailand, your employer must provide you with a letter to the labour office to revoke your work permit for this reason. You will have to do this on the same day that your employment is terminated.

They will then give you a 7-day residency permit that is intended for you to clean up your affairs in order to leave Thailand. You may be able to get longer than 7 days in some cases, such as transitioning from work.

Key Points:

  • Have to do on the same day that your employment is terminated
  • Will be given 7-day residency permit
  • May be able to get longer than 7 days

The notice of a stay of over 90 days in the Kingdom is not in any way equal to an extension of the visa.

A fine of 2,000 baht will be collected if a foreigner remains in the kingdom for more than 90 days without notifying the Immigration Bureau or notifying the Immigration Bureau longer than the set time limit. If a foreigner leaves the country and re-enters, in any case, the day count begins at one.

Key Points:

  • Not in any way equal to an extension of the visa
  • 2,000 baht fine will be collected for remaining more than 90 days without notifying the Immigration
  • The day count begins at one if re-entering

Avoid fines and all unnecessary problems while staying in Thailand.

Know your benefits while staying in the country and to avoid making visa mistakes. Be informed with the visa services that the country offers.

Top tip: Choose the right visa service according to your visa type.
