River Severn murder probe: Woman identified as family grieves

The identity of a woman discovered dead in the River Severn has been revealed as Natalie Dean, aged 34, while a murder investigation is ongoing. Her family expressed their devastation at the loss of their daughter and sister, stating that she will be greatly missed by them all. Natalie’s body was found in the river in the Llanidloes area, Powys, mid-Wales, at 4pm on Sunday, 28 May.

Through Dyfed-Powys Police, the family extended their gratitude to everyone for their support during this terrible time, which has meant a great deal to the entire family. They requested privacy to grieve and encouraged the public to assist the police by providing any relevant information.

A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody. Investigators are seeking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of a man and woman in Llanidloes or on the A470, between Llanidloes and Dolwen, over the weekend.

The police described the woman as white, 5ft 4ins tall, of small build, wearing a grey top, dark trousers and white trainers, and having very long dreadlocks. The man, on the other hand, was described as approximately 6ft tall, of stocky build, with dreadlocks and a dark-coloured bandana. He was wearing a short sleeve, high visibility jacket, T-shirt, shorts, and light-coloured trainers. He carried a black bag with a single strap and was accompanied by a small, dark-coloured dog, according to the police.
