Top Democrats head for Phuket
PHUKET: The Democrat Party is to hold a rally at Saphan Hin central stage from 5 pm to 11 pm on Sunday (March 5) as part of what it is calling its Southern Mobile Tour.
Manoo Onksantipab, Chairman of the Phuket branch of the Democrat Party, told the Gazette that the rally’s purpose is to explain to the public what caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is doing and to make clear the reasons behind the Democrats’ decision to boycott the April 2 Parliamentary elections.
Leading Democrat Party members scheduled to attend are Suthep Tueksuban, Trirong Suwankeree, Sathit Wongnongtei, Akom Aikchuan, and Chamni Sakdiset.
K. Manoo added, “It’s 70% sure that Abhisit Vejjajiva [Chairman of the Democrat Party] will attend the rally – that is, if there are no serious political developments in Bangkok that will keep him there.”
