The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has reported colder weather with strong winds across northern Thailand, forecasting a temperature drop of 1 to 2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, a monsoon is causing thunderstorms and high waves of 2 to 3 metres in the Gulf of Thailand and the south, advising small boats to remain ashore.
The weather forecast, announced today, January 28, anticipates a strong high-pressure system from China affecting northern Thailand. This will cause temperatures to drop between 1 and 2 degrees Celsius. Locals are advised to take precautions for their health due to the chilly weather and the risk of fires from dry and windy conditions.
A robust northeastern monsoon is affecting the Gulf of Thailand and the south, resulting in thunderstorms. The Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are experiencing strong winds, with wave heights reaching 2 to 3 metres in the southern Gulf and higher than 3 metres in stormy areas.
In the northern Gulf, waves are around 2 metres, while the Andaman Sea experiences waves of 1 to 2 metres, with higher waves offshore or in stormy weather.
In the south, particularly the eastern coast, residents are urged to be cautious of waves hitting the shore. Mariners in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea should navigate carefully and avoid areas with thunderstorms, with small boats in the Gulf advised to stay docked until today, January 28.
Dust and haze accumulation in northern Thailand remains moderate to good due to increased wind speeds enhancing air circulation.
