Four more elections to be held in Phuket
PHUKET: With the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization (OrBorJor) and Phuket City Municipality elections now decided, the Phuket Election Committee (PEC) is gearing up for four more local elections set to take place over the next three months
In a meeting with Phuket Governor Niran Kalyanamit on Thursday, PEC Director Supap Akkam said his agency is preparing for elections for the Karon, Patong and Kathu municipalities (tessaban) as well as the Pa Khlok Tambon Administration Organization (OrBorTor) in Thalang. The dates are as follows:
Karon Municipality: Term ended May 1. Election day is June 8.
Kathu Municipality Term ends July 17. Election day is August 24.
Patong Municipality: Term ends June 19. Election day in July 27.
Pa Khlok OrBorTor: Term ends July 24. Election day is August 31.
All of the election days fall on a Sunday. According to Election Commission law, a ban on all alcohol sales will go into effect from 6 pm on the Saturday before the election until midnight on election day.
