Son finds mum with help of dad’s old diary after 20 years
Phanatchakorn “Pete” Meesook finally achieved his lifelong dream of reuniting with his mother after 20 years of searching. In a recent interview with the Thai media, the 28 year old man from Chiang Kham shared his touching story of how he found his mother with the help of his father’s old diary.
Pete’s parents divorced when he was just a baby, and he grew up with his father in the northern province of Phayao. Despite his efforts, his father never spoke about Pete’s mother, and all he knew was that she lived in Sakhon Nakhon province in the Isaan region of Thailand.
However, when Pete was just eight years old, he stumbled upon his father’s diary, and as he continued to read it, he discovered the address of a house in Sakhon Nakhon. He kept the address with him, not sure what to do with it until he was 22 years old when he mustered the courage to write a letter to the address. To his surprise, his mother replied, and thus began their journey of getting to know each other through social media.
Finally, this year, Pete travelled to Sakhon Nakhon to meet his mother for the first time, filled with mixed emotions of happiness, excitement, and fear. But as soon as he arrived at his mother’s house, he was welcomed with open arms, and he was able to spend a week with her, sharing all the things he had wanted to tell her for so long.
Pete, who is currently preparing to take a government official exam, shared that this reunion has been the happiest moment of his life and that he will do everything in his power to make his mother proud.
This heartwarming story serves as a reminder of the importance of family and the power of perseverance. With the help of his father’s diary, Pete was able to fulfil his lifelong dream and be reunited with the missing piece of his life.
