FC Phuket call for Choi’s return
PHUKET: FC Phuket are demanding the return of South Korean player Choi Jai Won, following reports that he was preparing to leave the team for Thai League Division 1 rival Saraburi FC.
FC Phuket allowed Choi to leave the team for a trip home to his native Korea, where his wife had a miscarriage, it was previously reported.
However, the team subsequently learned that Choi had tried out for Saraburi FC and was unhappy playing in Phuket for personal reasons related to the loss of the child.
However, team manager Nareubate Ayupong said Choi was still under contract to play with the team for the remainder of the season.
If other clubs are interested in him they should contact the team and work out a deal according to league rules rather than surreptitiously trying to acquire his services, he said.
In other FC Phuket news, the team has cut Brazilian striker Paolo Renato, citing bad behavior and an inability to get along with teammates.
He also feigned injury during hard workouts and failed to heed warnings about his negative attitude, it’s said.
Meanwhile, FC Phuket back Suphat Anthong will be out indefinitely after suffering a broken ankle in Wednesday night’s 2-1 win over BBCU.
The ankle is broken in three places, requiring surgery and a minimum of two months’ recovery time, doctors said.
