Thai woman escapes deadly nylon wire strung acrosss a Chon Buri road
A Thai woman narrowly escaped with her life after she rode her motorcycle into a deadly nylon wire on a road in Chon Buri province. The victim suspects two teenage boys living nearby of setting up the death trap strung across the road.
The 41 year old victim, Chanita, a nurse in a hospital in the Phanat Nikhom district of Chon Buri, reported the harrowing incident to the Thai media.
Chanita revealed that she was riding her motorcycle to work on Chok Dee Road when she said she felt a sting of pain on her face. The nurse was horrified to find blood pouring from her face and that the cause of the injury was a dangerous nylon wire strung across the road. Chanita managed to remove the wire from her face and carry on her journey.
She credited her face mask for preventing a more serious injury and expressed gratitude. Chanita pondered the possible severity had the wire hit her neck or if she was riding faster. Despite living and working in the area for 19 years, it was the first time this had occurred.
Chanita took to Facebook to warn others of her harrowing experience and reported the incident to Phanat Nikhon Police Station. Despite uncertain help from police officers, she suspects the wire was set up by robbers targeting motorcycle riders.
The police report noted two suspicious male teenagers on a motorcycle captured by a security camera near the scene. One got off, retrieved an item from his pocket, got back on, and left the area.
A similar case happened in Bangkok in November last year. A man was injured by a hanging cable while riding his motorcycle in Soi Lad Phrao 101. He had a wound on his neck due to the cable, and the motorcycle was also damaged.
