Thai Vietjet to launch only direct Bangkok – Okinawa route
Budget airline Thai Vietjet is expanding its wings with new direct flights between Bangkok, Thailand, and Okinawa in Japan, in collaboration with leading Thai travel agency Tourladfah Co., Ltd.
The new route is the only nonstop service between the two major Asian hubs.
The route between Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport and Okinawa’s Naha Airport will fly twice per week on Thursdays and Sundays, starting March 16, 2023.
Flight VZ3800 will depart from Bangkok at 8.50am and flight VZ3801 will depart from Okinawa at 4pm.
The new route aims to bolster travel between the two countries. Japan is the #1 desired travel destination among Thais, so the route is expected to thrive.
The only way to get to Okinawa from Bangkok at present is to layover somewhere like Fukuoka, Incheon, Taiwan, or Hong Kong.
Ticket prices are not available at present as the new destination has not yet been added to Thai Vietjet’s website.
Thai Vietjet joined hands with Tourladfah Co., Ltd., to make the route a reality. Tourladfah is a leading travel agency specialising in outbound Thai travel to Japan.
Okinawa is one of Japan’s 47 prefectures, located in the southernmost part of the country. It comprises more than 160 inhabited and uninhabited islands stretching for over 1,000 kilometres in the East China Sea.
The prefecture’s capital is located on Okinawa’s main island, also called Okinawara, known for its beaches, coral reefs, and unique culture.
Okinawa was an independent kingdom known as the Ryukyu Kingdom until it was annexed by Japan in 1879.
Unlike other areas of Japan, Okinawa is warm throughout the year. July is the hottest month, at 29 degrees Celsius on average, and January is the coldest at 17 degrees Celsius on average.
On Thursday, Thai Vietjet will launch direct flights between Chiang Mai in northern Thailand and Osaka, running thrice per week. Thai Vietjet’s service is the only one linking Chiang Mai to Osaka directly.
Aside from the Chiang Mai – Osaka and Bangkok – Okinawa routes, Thai Vietjet operates a daily direct flight between Bangkok and Fukuoka.
