No direct hit from Kajiki, but heavy rain predicted for many parts of Thailand

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) says tropical storm Kajiki will miss Thailand, but parts of the country are in for some very heavy rain over the next two days.

With Kajiki moving west across the South China Sea in the direction of Vietnam, a TMD spokesman says there’s a good chance it may change direction, heading northward towards southern China, thereby missing Thailand.

However, several provinces in north-eastern, eastern and southern Thailand will experience some heavy rain from today, with the possibility of more flooding in areas that are still reeling from the aftermath of tropical storm Podul last week.

The TMD predicts however that rainfall will be less this time round, with the heaviest downpours set for Wednesday.
