Police kill two machete-wielding burglary suspects in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur
In the early hours of the morning, two men believed to be foreigners were fatally shot by the police in Taman Supreme, Cheras, near Kuala Lumpur. The police were forced to open fire in self-defence when the suspects attempted to attack them with machetes. The two men, both in their 30s, died at the scene, while their two accomplices managed to escape.
The suspects’ activities were observed by a team from the Serious Crime Investigation Division (D9) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), who were patrolling the area at around 3.30am. Upon further inspection, the police discovered burglary tools such as machetes and steel cutters.
“We are tracking down the two men who fled using a car believed to be using a fake registration number,” said Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, at the scene.
The bodies of the two deceased men were sent to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz for post-mortem examinations. The case is currently being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code, which pertains to attempted murder.
