3 Chinese men were deported for illegally opening a restaurant in Bangkok
Immigration Bureau officers raided the Chaosan Osha Chinese restaurant on the Rama 9 Road in the Huay Kwang district of Bangkok.
Officers reported that they found three Chinese citizens at the restaurant. 1 of them was believed to be the owner and was arrested while working on the restaurant’s accounts. The two other men were working in the restaurant’s kitchen.
They were reported to have entered Thailand on tourist visas. The restaurant did not have an operating license, and all of them did not have work permits.
Arresting officers stated that the Chinese men opened the restaurant and hired only Chinese citizens to work there.
The 3 men were charged with violating the Working of Aliens Act: an alien who engages in work without having a permit shall be punished with imprisonment for up to five years, a fine from 2,000 to 100,000 baht, or both.
The 3 men will be fined according to the amount stated by the court, deported, and their names would be put on the nation’s blacklist.

Delivery driver saves family from fire in northeast Thailand
Yesterday, netizens helped to reunite a restaurant owner with the Grab delivery driver who saved him and his family from a fire in the middle of the night earlier this month in Buriram province in northeast Thailand.
On January 16 at 3am, a raging communication cable fire broke out in front of the Chan Chao Thai curry restaurant in the Mueang district.
The owner of the restaurant, Zom Sarut, and his family were fast asleep upstairs in the restaurant.
A Grab delivery driver who happened to be travelling by saw the fire and banged on the door until Zom woke up.
Meanwhile, the Grab driver called for help and another good citizen brought a fire extinguisher to the scene, helping to control the fire until fire engines arrived.
Together, the two men saved Zom and his family and stopped Chan Choi restaurant from burning to the ground.
The grab delivery driver revealed that this isn’t the first time someone has needed his help during his night shift. The delivery driver said he keeps rope, a knife and a flashlight in his motorbike at all times in case of an emergency.

Officials work to tackle homelessness around Patong Beach
Phuket officials are working to tackle homelessness around Patong Beach.
Officials from the Phuket Protection Center for the Destitute said they inspected Patong Beach and the surrounding area from Monday, January 16 to Friday, January 20, along with Patong Police and Patong Law Enforcement officers.
The team found eight homeless people including four men, three women, and a young girl. The team recorded the homeless people’s personal information and escorted three of them to the Phuket Protection Center for the Destitute.
The remaining five homeless declined to go to the centre.
Homelessness has increased on the island province in recent years, particularly among migrants.
Factors contributing to the growing number of homeless people include the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions, as well as the tourism industry and job market.

The Pink Line monorail project is expected to open this year
The Pink Line monorail project in Bangkok is expected to be completed this year, with construction currently 95% finished. Construction began in 2016 on the 53.5 billion baht public transit project.
