Grisly find on Karon Beach

KARON: Tourists on Karon Beach were horrified last Thursday to see a half-eaten corpse wash up on the sand. The body, that of a man, was unidentifiable as much of the flesh had been eaten away by fish. The hands and feet were missing entirely. The corpse was wearing only a swimsuit. Pol Maj Thaneth Poungmanee of Chalong Police Station told the Gazette that, judging from the condition of the body, the man had been dead for about a week before washing ashore. Due to his large build, the man is thought to have been a foreigner. Maj Thaneth added that the victim is thought to have drowned on another beach without anyone noticing; the Tourist Police had received no reports of missing persons possibly matching the victim. The body was taken to the Wachira Phuket Hospital to await identification.
