Edinburgh man charged with murder of local father, breaches bail conditions

A man has been charged with the murder of a well-loved father in Edinburgh. Emergency services responded to a report of an injured man within a flat on Primrose Street at around 2.30pm on Tuesday. Local resident Garry O’Neill was pronounced dead at the scene. In a statement released through Police Scotland earlier this week, O’Neill’s family said: “He was a much-loved dad and we ask for privacy at this difficult time.”

Jamie Boulton, 54 years old, was arrested and charged in connection with O’Neill’s death. He appeared before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday, facing charges of murder and two counts of breaching bail conditions. Boulton, from Edinburgh, made no plea and was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court again within the next week.

In a statement, O’Neill’s family expressed their grief, saying: “He was a much-loved dad and we ask for privacy at this difficult time.”
