Teen killed in road rage fight

PHUKET TOWN: After an extreme case of road rage, a 21-year-old man confessed to stabbing a 17-year-old boy to death on Monday. At about 5 pm Monday, police rushed to the home of Jakrit Preechakorn, 17, on Soi Hab Ake off Phuket Rd, after Jakrit’s relatives called to say the boy had been stabbed. Pol Capt Chokchai Suttimek of the Phuket Town Police Station told the Gazette that police questioned people at the scene, who identified the stabber as Baworn Saeteaw, 21. Baworn lives in the neighborhood on Soi Ton Poh, also off Phuket Rd. Within 30 minutes, police found Baworn at his home. After questioning, he confessed to the stabbing. Baworn told the police that while he was waiting at a red light on his motorcycle near the Phuket Provincial Immigration Office, Jakrit rode up alongside on his motorcycle. Baworn and Jakrit both had friends riding on the back of their bikes. Baworn said that he and Jakrit glared at each other, then they both raced down the road and tried to cut each other off numerous times. They all rode back to Baworn’s house, and Baworn and his friend went inside. Jakrit and the other boy rode around in front of the house, shouted obscenities, and left after a few minutes. Baworn told police that the incident made him so angry that he grabbed a fruit knife and rode to Jakrit’s house with his friend. Jakrit was standing in front of his house with two relatives and his friend, Baworn told police. Jakrit and Baworn began punching each other, but the fight ended when Baworn pulled out the knife and thrust it into Jakrit’s stomach. Jakrit was rushed to hospital by his relatives, but died on the way from the single stab wound. Baworn was arrested and is being held in Phuket Provincial Prison on a charge of murder.
