A devastating fire blazed through three textile warehouse facilities in the Kabin Buri district of Prachin Buri province, causing an estimated damage of over 100 million baht.

The fire, which lasted for over eight hours, was reported in the early hours yesterday at the S. Chutima textile warehouse facility, located in Lat Takhian subdistrict. The textile warehouse compound, spanning an area of 25 rai (equivalent to 40,000 square metres), was under the jurisdiction of Sa Bua police station, according to Deputy Inspector Thanawat Jandee.

The fire, fuelled by an excess of 100 tonnes of fabric and plastic materials coupled with the dry weather, spread rapidly. More than 10 fire engines from Lat Takhian and the surrounding municipalities, along with rescue teams, were dispatched to control the escalating situation.

By 6am, the blaze was partially contained, notwithstanding a shortage of fire engines.

The owner of the textile warehouse, Piangchan Wongprathet, recounted hearing crackling sounds around 1am. Upon investigation, she discovered a warehouse near her residence on fire. She immediately alerted the fire department and requested assistance, reported Bangkok Post.

Piangchan lamented the swift spread of the fire, which hindered the removal of valuable items from the textile warehouses, resulting in significant losses. She estimated the financial damage to amount to around 100 million baht.

Thankfully, no casualties were reported in the incident. The police suspect an electrical circuit malfunction as the cause of the fire.
