News Forum - Frozen pension policy: British expat’s dream turns into nightmare
He may or may not have paid for it, although if he is reliant on his UK state pension he probably hasn't - most of my income comes from occupational pensions, but over the years, many of those as a higher tax rate payer, I probably have covered the cost of my state pension. Even so I would take my state pension being frozen into account for any long term planning, and it is not as though this is something new, it has been policy for many years. -

News Forum - Thai airports soar in Skytrax rankings: Suvarnabhumi leaps to 58th
Compared to Changi, most airports are ghettos. On one occasion they managed to get me and my bags onto a flight with a 90 minute connection time even though my flight arrived over an hour late, Suvarnabhumi is not too bad if you travelling premium class and can use the lounges and fast track immigration, but even then it is way too much of a long haul through the "duty free shopping opportunities".- 1

News Forum - Silencing the Voice: Pro-Thaksin outlet shuts down, sending shockwaves
I'm not sure why this is a "bombshell announcement" or why anyone is "shocked". I read this last night in the Bangkok Post and it seems that they turned in their broadcast license some time ago and were just relying on "satellite" and internet broadcasts for the publishing of their stories. Combine that with the fact that their political savior (and soon to be joined by his sister) is nearly fully "rehabilitated" in Thai political circles and there really isn't much more reason for them to continue. -

News Forum - Pattalung man faces arrest for molesting two girls
"The girls’ mothers, aged 34 and 32, reported the crime to local authorities but saw no progress for months, which led them to seek help from the media instead." The wheels of injustice turn slowly in The Land of Smiles. Too often, it appears the BiB don't consider the abuse of females, regardless of age, worth spending a lot of effort in investigation. This is just another case, in point.
