Phuket has entered a new era of sustainability by welcoming the island’s first ever rentable 100% electric vehicle (EV). Tourists can rent the Nissan Leaf from SIXT Thailand and cruise around Phuket without producing any harmful emissions at all. SIXT Thailand partnered with InterContinental Phuket Resort on the project, who have installed a series of EV charging stations compatible with all EVs at their resort at Kamala Bay on the west coast of the island. The six charging stations offer fast charging for anyone, not just hotel guests. To celebrate the launch of the Nissan Leaf, every customer who rents […]

Lots of problems with EV's and we are just now learning.  When the power goes out so does your car. Power grid doesn't always support the added charging stations.  Can't recharge them.  Batteries are not easy to recycle. When your batteries need replacing, they cost half the price of the car.  Have an electrical fire (happens during accidents) good luck putting the fire out. Can't put water on an electrical fire.  Which also leads to contamination.  There's more but I know all the green weenies don't  want to hear it. This needs to be a slow process to integrate into society.  Also, you are on the road and your battery dies, where can you get a can of electricity?   Figure that one out.

Alternatively, having an EV somewhere like Phuket where you know you won't be going that far should be perfect for a daily charge, overnight charge etc.

Not in Phuket, since the fossil driven power plant is off the island.

To celebrate the launch of the Nissan Leaf, every customer who rents an EV from SIXT Thailand and charges it at the resort will receive a complimentary cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake at the hotel’s Devas’ lounge. The offer is available from now until December 31.

It's currently available for five months. I hope with an unbeatable offer like that it won't fall flat.
