Truck protests are spreading as fast as Omicron itself. The protests are variously against vaccine mandates, ongoing Covid-related restrictions and face masks. They are certainly helping to galvanise a weary electorate after 2 years of lockdowns and precautionary mandates around the world. But even the Canadians haven’t stooped to the sheer terror inflicted on NZ truckies and other protesters who have gathered outside the NZ parliament in Wellington. Starting with the ‘Freedom Convoy’ in Quebec, Canada, the idea of blocking streets and important truck trade routes is becoming an international phenomenon. There are now similar protests in Paris, Bangkok, Canada […]

The story NZ authorities show no mercy, weaponise Barry Manilow ballads to repel truck protest as seen on Thaiger News.

This is a blatant violation of section 9 ("Right not to be subjected to torture or cruel treatment") of the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990.

Forget Barry Manilow!! I have the perfect weapon.... it's called the trolling song. It's sung but a very famous Russian singer from the 1960's and 70's. there's even a twelve hour repeat version. If that doesn't work, send in the sheep. There are more sheep in NZ than people!! That'll teach the kiwis a lesson!!!

They could also throw in Kenny G.

And the idiot moron kids called Island boys. That would be enough to slit your own wrists.

Finally the sheeple of New Zealand are waking up to their socialist PM. The only thing she’s done is keep covid out of NZ and that’s largely been luck  because of its isolation. She inherited a healthy economy and blew it in the first term. She’s mismanaged the economy and it only is functioning due to doubling the countries debt by endless borrowing, failed in her election promises, created racial tension with separatist policies and is a liar.

Are you guys shitting me?

Barry Manilow is amazing

I saw him last year with my sister and nephew  😀

I've always loved him.....

I loved when they played his song in a scene in Hellboy ll. Can't smile without you. Classic! For him and his songs themselves, wouldn't drive me crazy unless looped 24 hrs on a screaming loud non stop thing, but then all music would do that. He is 100 million wealthy, so that speaks for itself. Another weird thing never knew as I never followed or paid attention to him, but I guess he was another come out of the closet male in the industry for years.

A hefty dose of Des O'Connor albums might help 555

The French use tear gas, the Canadians a stern speech from the PM… the Kiwis: Barry Manilow songs. Reminds me of ‘Mars Attacks’ when they used Slim Whitman to kill the aliens.

Which method will be the most effective? 😂

if that news is not a hoax it shows the incompetence of nz government...

they should treat the people's protest with respect and follow their suggestions...after all governments should be the representative for the people...and if people dont want covid restrictions and the vaccine so let it be.....its cheaper and better for the economy...if the worst happens ( but i guess this is an international lie ) and everybody contracts covid and obviously no treatment and as a result half or three quarter of the population die ( via slow and painful suffocation ) than let it be....better to die than to live under restrictions of this kinds with incompetent leaders everywhere...cause death and disease are an integral part of life on earth...welcome and enjoy the ride it wont last too long

Governments only care about their selves. They need the people to elect them and then they forget about the people

Here here, well spoken but sadly the average Kiwi isn't seeing this. Bloody amazingly sad and now the stupid authorities turn on the sprinklers and then loud music. What has become of NZ as this is nothing short of pathetic and not representative of an elected government! FFS get down there and here their legitimate grievances and address them fairly as any sensible government should. The restrictions go far beyond common sense and fair & reasonable!!

Not an Ardern fan, then?   Please excuse my flippancy, @Giltee, but your message was fairly vehement . . . and your debut post, too, so thanks for that and welcome to Thaiger Talk!

The U S employed not dissimilar tactics trying to smoke Gen' Noriega out of his bolthole in Panama late 80's by setting up big speakers on Humvee's around the Vatican Embassy where he'd scurried and giving him loads of heavy metal including Van Halen's " Panama " ( you just gotta love their sense of humour with that one ) and the Clash's eponymous " I fought the law but the law won " to drive him bonkers .. drew complaints from Rome about disturbing the sanctity of God's embassy but it worked for after 8 days the poor old Gen' surrended with ringing in his ears no doubt ..

Fancy protesting for peoples choice, vs a government mandate. What has the world come to? Barry Manilow may be better off played out infront of shopfronts at 1am with Celine Dion on loop to curb graffitti vandalism. 😀
