I also don't think Rogan should be banned, taken off air, etc for giving Misinformation

I feel Vince's comments are not valid. Neil, unlike Joe Rogan, is not telling people how to think. He is just leading by example. He disagrees with their morals as do many of us who have pulled the plug on Spotify. Funny you are trying to blame him for profiting from music, which by the way has  pleasured so many people over the years, when Spotify and the ever vexatious Joe Rogan are getting "Big Bucks For Bigger Lies". Sounds like a song title to me Neil.

Whoever blames Joe Rogan for misinformation, clearly never watches his podcast. Whenever he's wrong he actually admits it. Whenever the people, who get a boner because of Covid, are wrong, they only scream and yell. 

+ he just has long talks and repeatedly says the listeners should have their own opinion about stuff. But whenever the news says something, that MUST be your opinion too, or else you'll get lynched online.

I have watched a good amount of Joe Rogan over the past few years. His show has become an echo chamber for his tribe. In my opinion the core issue with Rogan isn't that people are presenting misinformation, it is that Rogan is a terrible interviewer that allows his guests to present anything unchecked. He has created a platform and he is now simply pandering to an audience. Regarding Neil Young, yes he is being idealistic. But to his credit, he actually followed through on his promise to leave Spotify. Will it make a difference? Maybe not. But time will tell if it gains momentum. One reason that it won't, is that many musicians don't have control over how their music is used due to corporate ownership. Time will tell how this plays out, as with everything.

You say you've "watched a good amount of Joe Rogan" and yet you say they "present anything unchecked".

I guess you've only watched the parts of Joe Rogan and not the parts where Jamie fact checks everything on the spot. 

I don't think you came further than just some highlights of his podcast. But hey, for some people, after the first negative thing they see, they say they have seen a good amount of it and therefore they miss all the positive parts.

Jamie only "fact checks" when Rogan or the guest can't recall something and they ask him to look something up. Even then, they only seek out the original source material that supports their statement. You can believe whatever you want about the amount of JRE content I have watched. I'm not going to bother trying to convince you otherwise because there is no litmus test.

I've seen plenty of times where Jamie just pops up and says that it isn't correct. Also when they ask him to check it, it shows they were wrong. 

Maybe whatever they found that supported their points, was just what their point was. It doesn't mean that whatever they found was specifically searched for so it would support them. 

But if they do, isn't everyone just doing that? Try getting on the mainstream media with a different opinion. Good luck

It's not like Rogan is some anti-vaxx zealot (and I don't like or listen to Rogan but that's my impression), he's got lots and lots of content wholly unrelated to Covid. Most of it bad ;-)

I blame him for being a horrible role model - he's had difficult drug and alcohol problems and many fans are likely have emulated his "rock and roll rockstar" lifestyle - booze, drugs, etc. 

He's made lots of money from a dirty music business and he himself is - or was - part of that dirt.

And I oppose vaxxine disinformation, but I think Rogan specific actions not his whole catalogue, need to be criticized.

Please provide an example of when he has had two guests with opposing points of view for debate. It hasn't happened.  The episodes contain a single point of view with the only challenge being when Rogan offers measured skepticism because he is just a self described idiot.

But my opinion of Joe Rogan is he thinks he is way smarter than he actually is.

 

But he's allowed to be wrong

He's allowed to have an opinion and certainly shouldn't be cancelled for it 

 

I think there is a big difference between deliberately spreading misinformation or flat out lies than having opinions that are, at times, misinformed

If you want to talk about an ability to make a cogent argument, try answering a couple of questions I keep asking but never get an answer to from anti-vaxxers,

1. About 20 years ago the world start getting it's act together over smoking bans due to the known risks of passive smoking. It is accepted that passive smoking takes 20+ years to kill you. Contact with someone with with CV can kill within days. So why is it Ok to ban people from causing harm that might occur 20 years down the road, but not OK to ban the unvaxxed from taking part in certain activities when they represent a risk thousands of times greater and more immediate?

2. Vaxxing has been around for over 200 years. I can appreciate there are those who want to adopt a "wait and see" attitude, or "Maybe in 5 years time", but has there ever been a vaccine where adverse effects were not discovered until (eg) 5 years, or within weeks of the jab?

That's not what the show is like. Sometimes there are 2 guests, almost always it's a one on one talk. 

He has had such a huge amount of guests that it's impossible to agree with all of them. And it certainly has happened that they disagree on something. He clearly shows it. So your original point was just wrong that he just lets them without any pushback. He gives pushback, but in a respectful way. Not everyone who disagrees has to fight or something. 

These guests get on his podcast to talk about their stuff. That's the whole point of his show. You can make up your own mind about each topic. That's the whole point of the show. 

I'd love to give you some examples, but currently I've just enough time to type a message. Not to find and point out some small parts out of a 3hr conversation.
