Police are searching for four Thai men posing as police officers who stole valuables from a house in the Isaan province of Nakhon Ratchasima.

A Thai couple, Somprat and Jaruwan, reported the incident to officers at Si Khio Police Station after falling victim to four thieves on November 20. The couple disclosed that the impostors, claiming to be police officers, confiscated a mobile phone and a motorcycle key from them. The perpetrators alleged that Somprat was involved in money laundering.

One of the four men threatened him and other family members with a gun to gain entry to his house. They showed him a search warrant on the phone, confiscated his mobile phone and motorcycle keys, and began to search his house.

Somprat said he was confused and decided to call his wife Jaruwan on another mobile phone to inform her of the situation.

Jaruwan revealed that she was not at home on the day of the incident. After receiving a call from her husband, she checked the security camera in the house and found the operation suspicious, so she decided to report it to officers at Si Khio Police Station.

Somprat said the criminal gang seemed to have noticed his wife’s report to the police and rushed out of his house with his motorcycle key and mobile phone.

Jaruwan said she later discovered a GPS tracking device on her car. She did not know where it came from but believed that the criminal gang had installed it on her car before their operation.

The couple said they ran a construction company but had never had any conflict with anyone or any rival companies. They and their family members were shocked by the break-in.

Officers at Si Khio Police Station reported that the CCTV footage clearly showed the faces of each of the thieves. They are now conducting further investigations to identify them and collect their fingerprints left in the house.

Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police Commander Narongrit Dansuwan also determined that officers would prove whether the four men were the real police. Narongrit made known that the men were not following police procedure at all. Normally, officers would show a printed search warrant and ask the homeowner to sign the document before the operation.
