News Forum - Man’s body discovered in Phuket jungle: No signs of foul play
Is there any jungle in Phuket? The word nowadays means tropical rainforest, although originally it meant only the dense understory in any forest, 'jangala', rather than a type of forest - and there is little 'jangala' in a true tropical rainforest, because of its closed, light hungry canopy of living branches and leaves, outcompeting vegetation far, far below. Phuket has a monsoon climate, my guess is there was monsoon forest there, but it was cleared from the island for plantations. -

News Forum - Hong Kong tourism nears pre-pandemic levels
From memory - not quite, but not far off. I transited through Kai Tak quite few times in the late eighties and nineties, usually on standby (back when I got cheap travel as British Airways staff), always liked the landing over the city centre, but thought the airport must have been a bit of nightmare for the pilots.- 1
