  1. Total bollocks, gatherings prohibited due to Prayut and mob running scared. It was due to him and his damned cronies that covid was allowed to get out of control, they are using covid as an excuse to control the masses.

  2. I am not looking to be confrontational on this. I've seen several of your posts on this and I you strike me as a Vax agnostic who has considered the problem and your approach strikes me as rational. I wish I could say the same for all that post on vaxxes in general. One thing I will dispute with you is your opening sentence. My post was not specific to the roll out of RNA vaxxes, but to medical advances. My understanding of medicine approvals is that it is a long drawn out process that usually takes at least 5 years, and under normal circumstances takes at least 5 years. Even then, the drug is put under surveillance, and depending on what adverse effects are reported, the drug then becomes contra-indicated for use by certain patients. Even then, is some cases adverse reactions might depend on sustained use over many years, so the initial 5 years is still not foolproof. I have personal experience of the failings of one such drug, sodium valproate which is blamed for my wife's kidney. As a toddler she was hit by a car which then caused seizures which is why she was given the drug. Eventually, this got the seizures under control, and by the time we met, she had been taking the drug for over 25 years, including the last 15 years seizure free. Then she started to become ill, and it was eventually linked to this drug by the long term surveillance, as were several other side effects including birth defects. If she had waited say 15 years before she had total faith in the drug, she would have still been caught out by it and had a miserable life of a further 15 years of seizures. Conversely, we are currently in a race against time where 10 million people a month are being infected by CV. One in three will suffer "long covid" and 200k are dying, and all that time there are new variants occurring. Going through normal procedures and taking 5 years to evaluate the treatments suggests that in the time, 600 mil will be infected. 12 mill will die, and 200 mill will suffer long covid. The circumstances are exceptional and needs an exceptional response. We can't wait 5 years IMHO. I don't doubt that there will be among the billions some who will be vaxxed, people who will be damaged. And you are right, we don't now what the long term impact will be. But can the world afford to wait 5 or 15 years while we wait for the agnostics to decide? I say no.

  6. I was trying to write funny, sarcastic posts in these forums but when it comes to jokes, it's hard to beat the governemt. source: https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2150207/troops-to-begin-door-to-door-tests Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed the armed forces and the national police to join hands with City Hall to arrange for more than 200 rapid deployment teams to carry out door-to-door testing for Covid-19 in the worst-hit parts of the city. They should have been rapid deployed 3 months ago Those who test positive for the disease and have significant symptoms will be immediately transferred to a field hospital. Significant symptoms to field hospitals? Who can get to the hospitals? The dead? Herbal medicines made from green chiretta (Andrographis paniculata) and some fever-reducing drugs will also be provided. What's next? Shamans? The prime minister also ordered Isoc to install Tu Pun Sook "happiness-sharing cabinets" in various communities to boost efforts to provide relief to the most affected people, he said. no comment.

  9. The list of accredited resources would be too long but the basic science of how mRNA works should be enough (if more is needed then you can google the reporting from most major university medical departments or national health agencies). mRNA vaccines do not affect or interact with our DNA in any way. mRNA never enters the nucleus of the cell, which is where our DNA (genetic material) is kept. The cell breaks down and gets rid of the mRNA soon after it is finished using the instructions. https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-mrna-megamix/fact-check-mrna-vaccines-do-not-turn-humans-into-hybrids-or-alter-recipients-dna-idUSL1N2M61HW https://www.health.gov.au/initiatives-and-programs/covid-19-vaccines/is-it-true/is-it-true-can-covid-19-vaccines-alter-my-dna https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/different-vaccines/mrna.html What may be confusing some people is the theory that COVID-19 can potentially alter DNA. HOWEVER, the scientist postulating that theory clearly stated that mRNA vaccines could not. https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2021/05/further-evidence-offered-claim-genes-pandemic-coronavirus-can-integrate-human-dna Since most medical and genetic experts are in agreement that mRNA can not alter DNA I think it would be up to the original poster to prove the theory that mRNA can alter DNA. Personally I'll go with the world's leading scientist and ignore the conspiracy theorist and superstitious grandmas on facebook.

  11. When I went for my 2nd dose, the nurse just readied her syringe without saying a word about which vaccine she was about to administer. I had to ask. And then, when she told me it was Moderna, I told her my first dose was Pfizer and that I won't be allowed into Thailand if I receive a mixed dose. She rolled her eyes and sighed dramatically, but she went and got a Pfizer dose for my wife and I. She then lectured us about how we should be grateful to get whatever we can get and shouldn't be so entitled. I pointed out that getting a mixed dose isn't a 2nd dose, it's two FIRST doses, and she again rolled her eyes and said "whatever".

  12. John, I am pro vaccine, in particular the Pfizer shot, and I have very little patience for people recycling nonsense that has been thoroughly disproven. It is, however, true that the whole question of using existing prophylactics and treatments to augment vaccines in the fight against Covid has been ludicrously politicized. Wikipedia, usually a good resource, is one of the frontlines for what is, effectively, a culture war. There are also significant financial interests in discouraging the use of any cheap, out-of-patent medicine. This pandemic has revealed how broken our system of science and medical administration is. I believe that regulatory capture is going to be a huge issue in the aftermath. In my opinion, the evidence for Ivermectin is credible, widespread, and compelling. The people I listen to are not whackos but, in the current climate, any scientists who try to discuss this are hit pretty hard with the ban-hammer. It is actually fascinating to watch the suppression because there is a very good chance that they will shortly have to perform a complete reversal. My prediction is that if, as appears to be already happening, the effectiveness of the vaccines falters in the face of Delta, within a year Ivermectin, or a stack containing Ivermectin, will be in widespread use throughout the world to bolster the vaccines and to provide some level of protection to the billions of people who do not have any access to vaccines.

  13. This is a great point. I think many unvaccinated and vaccinated people will contract the virus in the next 12 months. As the world becomes more vaccinated, we need to stop worrying so much about case numbers and focus on hospitalisations and deaths. In the U.K. we know (and live with the fact) that on average 10,000 people a year die from flu. We don’t report how many people caught it and survived. We happily accept the risk and older people are encouraged to get an annual flu jab. I know three people in the last few weeks who have got Covid. All fully vaccinated and all had a few days of what was like a heavy flu symptoms. Aches and pain, very bad headaches and a high temperature. All recovered quickly and now back at work. They all said the worst part was not knowing how bad it was going to get. A feeling that had they not been vaccinated would have been far worse.

  15. Among the sub-stories in this report, did anyone see the bit about the Thai insurer who is trying to void Covid policies they have issued. Apparently the TH gov have told them that they will have to suck it up and pay up. For once, something to applaud the TH gov for I think

  18. This struck me as a terrific plan when they announced it a week ago. Since then, it has become apparent that Delta is a bigger problem than we originally feared. Supposedly Singapore will start relaxing one or two restrictions at the end of this month, and will continue, step-by-step until reaching almost complete normality in October. Sadly, none of this will happen.

  20. Just to be clear, yes. Anyone who is not vaccinated by now is almost certainly going to get sick at some point over the coming months, and it won't be the softer experience that the vaccinated folks are getting. It will be the full rollercoaster.

  21. Israel reported 1, ONE death yesterday. If that is alarming then what is Thailand's 141? It's also worth mentioning that many deeply religious groups there refused to be vaccinated. Also worth mentioning that although they reported 830 new cases, the hospitalization and mortalities don't follow. It might be too early to say, but it looks like Pfizer is working. No need for more experiment. Just get the funky vaccines.

  22. It is unfortunate but understandable. I was looking at the latest research from Israel and it is now clear to me that the buzz around the Delta variant is not, as I originally presumed, merely government hype, hoping to persuade people to remain cautious during the summer. Delta actually is ridiculously infectious and, with very few exceptions, anyone who is not vaccinated by now will be in for a rough ride at some point over the next few months. We also now know, from the study by Prof. Calum Semple, that it causes organ damage (kidneys, lungs, and other organs) in 40% of those aged 19 - 49 who get treated in hospital. That is almost as high as the stats for those aged 50 and over who get treated in hospital. This virus is as vicious and destructive as a TVF mod. So, faced with a government that has utterly, inexplicably botched even ordering the damn vaccines, I can see how young Thai folks might be inclined to say "To Hell with it, it's every Somchai for himself!".

  25. I have been afraid of this happening and commented many times on the issue. Not enough vaccinations, lockdowns or restrictions in place sooner, now it could be about to blow up in their faces. Prevention was the key, and this might have been avoided .

  27. It was always going to happen - and there it is - 10,000 in one day - and 141 deaths. I would not be surprised to see some PR messages over the weekend - followed by some even more serious lockdowns and restrictions announced on Monday/Tuesday. Now might be a good time to visit Makro and stock up on essential items - before others do the same and they are gone. But please - do not take all the toilet paper like the bogans here and in UK/USA did - learn to use the bum gun.

  28. Yes they do - but more in Thailand, then here is Aust. The western female 'industry' will try to change them into a feminazi - most resist but some fall for that khrapp and take the money. One of the great things to see in Thailand is fat 'liberated' western women tourists walking around in a Thailand Mall with their husband/slave and their unruly loud annoying kids. They literally hate that all the Thai ladies (99%) are beautiful slim and feminine - and even more, they hate their husband/slave looking at them and wondering. As I said to one bloke back in Aust - it is like being in a supermodel convention - they are everywhere. Meanwhile back here in boganville - the vast majority of the Aussie women are fat ugly and extremely 'unfeminine'. The looks I get when walking with the wife are 'gold'. She is over 50, but she looks like she is just over 30 - and they do not like that one little bit ?

  32. Was it loitering with intent to be eaten? I could be in trouble, we had two 'birthday' cakes recently. My wife bought them for the family just to eat. No birthday involved. Luckily there was no name on the cakes, therefore assuring anonymity. The police's case would 'crumble.' It reminds me yet again of the students charged with 'eating a sandwich with political intent' in June 2014, while reading a copy of 1984.

  33. Lockdowns are the solution to stopping case numbers rising, it doesn’t cure anything. But it needs to be a lockdown. Half-arsed ones destroy the economy and don’t stop case numbers increasing, they just slow the rate of increase (slightly). They need to do two things Hard lockdown everywhere. Everything but essential services locked down for 4 weeks. Get numbers under control. At the moment people can still go shopping. Walking around and having coffee with friends, Travelling to see family. Going to the office. That’s not a lockdown, that’s window dressing. Secondly, buy as many vaccines at whatever cost as fast as possible and start vaccinating people. If they don’t do these things then it will get worse and set the country back further.

  34. Regarding my views on Ivermectin, as I said in my response to @BlueSphinxI have only just heard of the drug. My quick researches suggests that the evidence is controversial. I am not committed one way or another to passing judgement in such a short time. You and i both appear to be on the same page wondering how much of the anti-vax stories is being funded by Big Pharma worried that they might lose out on the CV gold rush. That is not to to say that we should dismiss the posts of contributors like @BlueSphinxBut there is at least one poster on here, whose willingness to believe every anti-vax story when a few minutes research would reveal would reveal the flaws in his belief system are beyond belief. I am a great believer in vaccines, but I do start out as mildly agnostic to the extent that my initial response is "Lets see what happens when they have jabbed a few million people in 6 months time. I know that this will not protect me in cases such as I mentioned in my wife's cases of drugs taking 20+ years to show their worst characteristics. On the other hand I have underlying health conditions which suggest that Iwill npt be around long enough to find out about this. Alternately, the risk of my catching CV and it possibly killing me, is very real. So that people understand my general enthusiasm for vaxxes, I will tell you of my own experiences. I was quite a sickly child. and 1956-7 was a terrible time for me. As well as the childhood diseases of measles and whooping cough which could be fatal or lead to permanent disability, in 1956/7 I spent 5 months in hospital with meningitis. I was home a month, and then spent 6 months back in the hospital, just about the time, Salk developed his vax. That vax in itself, is a tribute to the effectiveness of vaccines. 1956 was the last epidemic of polio in the UK. A year later, cases were in the handfuls due to widespread vaxxing. At the age, I caught mumps. That has made me sterile, and it's one of the saddest things in my life that I never could become a father. There is now a vax available for all 5 of these diseases. I have no doubts about the emotional harm that my illnesses inflicted on my parents at the time and I am sure that as they got older and heard about these new vaxxes, they would probably have thought, "I really wish we had them when our son was a child"

  35. Americans donate surplus vaccines to virtue signal. Thais accept, to resell at a profit thinking Americans stupid. Thais make symbolic and insulting gesture to show their generosity by giving away 0.0001% to the benefactors who actually already paid for these vaccines through their taxes. A plague on both their houses. If you'll pardon the pun.

  36. True story: I had polio as child and was caught in the last great epidemic in 1956, and recall being in an Iron Lung. To give you some idea of how much things have progressed since that time, I mentioned thos to my doctor, and was amazed to discover that he had never heard of an Iron Lung.

  39. I think you misunderstood my message. Opening up in Phuket and Samui wasn't the brightest idea during the worst covid surge in Thailand. However, the numbers you see today have nothing to do with these tourists. These are all locally transmitted cases. Let me ask you this. Is the 2-300 confined, vaccinated, tested tourists are the bigger threat or the 10,000+ locals running around the country?

  40. Are you an expert? RNA can't penetrate the DNA. If you go outside, the Sun can change your DNA in 10 minutes a lot more than RNA in a thousand years. Try to throw an apple through a concrete wall. The apple is the RNA a the wall is your DNA. Being said that, it might be true that Sino or AZ is safer. But not because RNA changes your DNA. :)

  41. I think I married Aussie Bob's wife's twin...an absolute perfect description of my wife. I was working as a teacher trainer and had gone to Malaysia for break. While there I recieved an SMS, "Someone here misses you." from a number I didn't know. Come to find out it was the company's business manager. Started to date and my job disappeared after a bombing in Hat Yai, and I began to use Thailand as my home base, but took jobs in other countries; Abu Dhabi, Korea, etc. On a two-week vacation from a job in Korea, we got married...and god love her, she's stayed with me through all kinds of my stupidity. I was 47, my first marriage, she was 37, her second and brought along my two step-kids, whom I support. It will be 14 years the first week of August.
