Strictly star Amy Dowden hospitalised, recovering well
Amy Dowden, a star of Strictly Come Dancing, was taken to hospital following the main show last night. She has since shared that she is now “much better.” Dowden, who lives with Crohn’s disease, rejoined the show in August after undergoing cancer treatment.
A representative for Dowden stated, “Amy was feeling unwell, so an ambulance was called as a precaution. She is now feeling much better and wants to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern. We ask that Amy’s privacy regarding her health is respected.”
A spokesperson for Strictly added, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Amy Dowden MBE could not participate in tonight’s results show.” Dowden, who hasn’t partnered with a celebrity on the show since 2022, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May last year. Before her return, she expressed her happiness after her doctor found no evidence of disease.

Earlier this year, Dowden shared on Instagram that hearing the news was “words I dreamed of” and described it as her “biggest accomplishment yet.” The 34-year-old noted that she won’t receive the all-clear for five years and will require monthly injections and regular check-ups.
In this year’s New Year’s honours list, Dowden was awarded an MBE for her contributions to fundraising and raising awareness of Crohn’s disease.
