A body has been found near where missing mother Victoria Taylor was last seen. Ms Taylor, aged 34, vanished from her Malton, North Yorkshire home on 30 September.
More than a week after her disappearance, police indicated a strong likelihood that she had entered the River Derwent. CCTV footage showed her walking towards a play park by the river, and some of her belongings were discovered in that vicinity.
Search operations have been ongoing since Ms Taylor was reported missing on 1 October, utilising divers and specialist sonar equipment.

Assistant Chief Constable Wayne Fox of North Yorkshire Police announced that a body had been recovered at 11.45am today by underwater search teams, close to where Ms Taylor’s items were previously found. He stated that formal identification is still pending, but Ms Taylor’s family has been informed and is understandably distressed by the news.
At Fulford Police Station, Mr Fox addressed reporters, acknowledging the significant impact Ms Taylor’s disappearance has had on the Norton and Malton communities. He expressed the family’s profound heartache and their gratitude for the community’s overwhelming support during this difficult time. The family has requested privacy to process the recent developments, and Mr Fox assured that their thoughts are with the family.
Ms Taylor left her home at 9am on 30 September and was seen on CCTV at 11.35am at the BP garage on Welham Road, where she bought several items. She was later spotted at Malton bus station at 11.53am and was last seen on CCTV walking towards the play park on Riverside Walk at 12.30pm.
