Jennifer Lawrence confirms second pregnancy with husband Cooke Maroney

Lawrence and Maroney share pregnancy news; already parents to son, Cy.

Jennifer Lawrence is expecting her second child, as confirmed by her representatives. The actor’s rep shared the joyful news with Vogue. Lawrence and her husband, Cooke Maroney, tied the knot in October 2019, and they have a two-year-old son, Cy.

Lawrence announced the birth of her first child during a conversation with Ellen DeGeneres. The talk show host, who previously lived in Lawrence’s current house, mentioned: “Now I live next door to you, and I’m looking at you living in my house with a brand new baby. By the way, I do hear you sometimes talking to him, and it’s really cute.”

In 2023, Lawrence discussed parenting with Kylie Jenner for Interview magazine. She spoke about how her approach to security changed after becoming a mother. “I didn’t have that much security before I had a kid but, once I had one, with my intrusive thoughts and anxiety, I wanted us to have security around all the time,” she shared.

Initially, Lawrence wanted her security team to be ‘invisible’ to her son but later changed her view. “Once they start working for you, it’s like, ‘Well, wait. This is a person in our life. He’s helping us,’” she noted. She realised it was better to acknowledge them: “It’s probably better to say, ‘Say good morning to Sean. Hi. How are you?’”

Lawrence added: “We’ve incorporated them more in our lives, which surprised me. That wasn’t how I planned it.”

Last year, the Oscar-winning actor spoke about her upbringing in a Republican household and her nightmares about conservative Fox News host, Tucker Carlson. Growing up in Louisville, Kentucky, she finds it challenging to align with her conservative family, especially after the overturning of Roe V Wade, which left many women in the US without access to safe abortions.

Lawrence admitted her struggle with her family’s views: “I’ve tried to get over it and I really can’t. I can’t. I’m sorry I’m just unleashing, but I can’t f**k with people who aren’t political anymore. You live in the United States of America. You have to be political. It’s too dire. Politics are killing people.”

Reflecting on the controversial case, she said: “I remember a million times thinking about it while I was pregnant. Thinking about the things that were happening to my body. And I had a great pregnancy. I had a very fortunate pregnancy. But every single second of my life was different. And it would occur to me sometimes: What if I was forced to do this?”
