Diana’s jewellery valued at $508,900 worn by Meghan Markle

Before her tragic death in a car accident in Paris in 1997, Princess Diana had a strong desire for her jewellery to be passed on to her sons, William and Harry. She expressed this wish in a letter, hoping that their future wives would appreciate wearing the pieces. Diana wrote, “I would like you to allocate all my jewellery to the share to be held by my sons so that their wives may, in due course, have it or use it. I leave the exact division of the jewellery to your discretion.”

Princess Diana’s jewellery collection holds deep emotional value for the royal brothers. Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s wife, has been seen wearing several of Diana’s exquisite pieces. Diamond experts at Steven Stone have valued these pieces at a staggering $508,900.

During a royal tour of Australia in 2018, Meghan wore Diana’s gold cuff bangle for the first time. Luxury jewellery expert Maxwell Stone noted, “Another particularly sentimental piece is Princess Diana’s gold cuff bangle, which Meghan first wore during her royal tour of Australia with Prince Harry in 2018.” This bangle, adorned with two large cabochon sapphires estimated to be 5 carats each, is believed to be worth around £25,000 ($31,690). Traditionally, sapphires are thought to have calming properties and promote peace and rest.

Another iconic piece now in Meghan’s possession is the striking aquamarine ring that Diana famously wore. Meghan first displayed this ring at her wedding reception as a tribute to Prince Harry’s late mother.

Prince Harry designed Meghan’s engagement ring with great care, ensuring it honoured his mother’s memory. He explained, “The ring is yellow gold because that’s Meghan’s favourite, and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana. The little diamonds on either side are from my mother’s jewellery collection, to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together,” he told BBC.
