Jenna Ellis to cooperate with Arizona in fake elector case

Ellis avoids charges by agreeing to testify in Arizona fake elector case

Jenna Ellis, a former attorney for Donald Trump, has agreed to cooperate with Arizona officials in the state’s “fake elector” case, as announced by the Arizona attorney general’s office on Monday.

Officials revealed the state is dropping charges against Ellis in return for her cooperation.

Ellis had faced nine felony charges in the case.

In June, she pleaded not guilty in Maricopa County court over her alleged attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Arizona.

As part of the deal, Ellis will provide information and materials to law enforcement and testify “at any time and place,” according to the cooperation agreement released by officials.

Ellis participated in a recorded proffer session with the attorney general’s office on 17 June, as stated in the agreement.

Attorney General Mayes commented, “This agreement represents a significant step forward in our case. I am grateful to Ms. Ellis for her cooperation with our investigation and prosecution. Her insights are invaluable and will greatly aid the State in proving its case in court.”

In the spring, Ellis was among eighteen individuals indicted by Mayes’ office for their alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Arizona. Among those indicted were several former and current aides to Trump, including Rudy Giuliani and Mark Meadows.

Trump was not charged in this case.

This marks the second cooperation deal for Ellis, who previously pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate in Georgia after being indicted in Fulton County alongside Trump and 17 others over alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in that state.

In October, Ellis appeared in a Georgia courtroom and emotionally expressed regret over her work for Trump during the 2020 election.

“If I knew then what I know now, I would have declined to represent Donald Trump in these post-election challenges,” Ellis told the judge. “I look back on this whole experience with deep remorse.”

ABC News later obtained exclusive video of Ellis’ proffer session with Fulton County prosecutors.

Other Georgia defendants, including Kenneth Chesebro, Sidney Powell, and Scott Hall, also accepted cooperation deals in the Georgia case.
