Whitworth couple discovers sheep on their roof after morning commotion
A couple in Whitworth, Lancashire, had an unusual wake-up call when they discovered a flock of sheep on their roof on Thursday morning. Kristen Jackson, 28, and her partner, Daniel Payne, 33, initially thought burglars were breaking into their home when they heard loud noises at around 8am.
Kristen rushed outside and was astonished to see four sheep trotting about on the roof of their four-bedroom house. “You think the worst—is someone in the house? Is someone breaking in?” she wondered. After realising the true cause of the commotion, she couldn’t help but laugh at the surreal sight.
She quickly fetched her phone and called Daniel to witness the spectacle. He was equally shocked and amused by the situation, seeing four sheep staring back at them from the roof.
Their house, which is partially submerged into a hillside and currently under renovation, allowed the curious sheep to climb onto the 9ft-high roof after sneaking through a fence earlier that morning. Kristen mentioned that living close to the moors means they frequently see sheep and cows wandering nearby, but it was surprising to find them on the roof.
The sheep, spooked by Kristen and Daniel’s presence, eventually made their way off the roof within five to ten minutes. Kristen plans to reinforce the property’s boundaries to prevent any more animals from getting onto the roof in the future.
In a similar incident last month, a flock of sheep exhibited strange behaviour after consuming 100kg of cannabis in a greenhouse.
