A fire erupted this evening in an apartment block in Paddington, central London. The blaze ignited on the ninth floor of the building, located above Heist Bank pub at the intersection of Hermitage Street and N Wharf Road, at 8:46 pm.
Residents and pub patrons were ordered to evacuate. The area hosts numerous office buildings, luxury apartments, and an all-boys school. A witness reported to GB News that people outside the building were warned of the fire when a window on the seventh floor shattered. Footage from the scene showed thick smoke billowing from both sides of the building.
The cause of the fire, which was controlled by 9:42 pm, remains unknown. No injuries were reported.

The fire brigade stated: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been tackling a fire at a block of flats on Hermitage Street in Paddington. A flat on the ninth floor of the building was alight. There are no reports of any injuries at this time. The fire has been brought under control but members of the public are asked to avoid the area whilst firefighters work to fully extinguish the fire. The Brigade’s Control Officers received more than 10 calls about the fire.”
