Teen injured during homecoming photo shoot in Colorado; suspect arrested
A 17-year-old boy sustained serious facial injuries after being shot while searching for a location to take homecoming pictures in Colorado, stated the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a call about two trespassers on a property around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. The homeowner had also contacted her boyfriend to report the trespassers.
Upon arrival, deputies found a teenager bleeding heavily from his face, with his friend using a T-shirt to apply pressure to the wounds. A man identified as 38-year-old Brent Metz was present with the two boys.

The injured teenager informed a deputy that Metz shot him in the face through his car’s windshield.
The boy explained that he and his friend had driven to the property to ask if they could take their homecoming photos there. They parked at the gate, jumped the fence, and walked up the driveway but found no one home.
After searching the property unsuccessfully for the homeowner, they returned to their car to write a note seeking permission to use the location.
While writing the note, an unknown man approached in a truck, exited the vehicle, and fired a shot through the windshield, hitting the 17-year-old driver in the face.
The boy was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Deputies discovered the weapon used in the shooting in Metz’s truck.
Metz was arrested and booked into jail on charges of first-degree assault, felony menacing, illegal discharge of a firearm, and reckless endangerment.
The investigation is ongoing.
