Thai actor pledges 100 laps around Wat Phra Kaew for volleyball win
Thai actor and TV host Rusameekae “Kae” Fagerlund confirmed that he will fulfil his promise to run 100 laps around Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok after Thailand’s women’s volleyball team won the Asian championship and secured a place at the 2028 Olympics.
Thailand defeated China 3-2 in the final of the AVC Women’s Continental Championship, successfully defending its Asian championship title and securing an opportunity to compete at the 2028 Olympics for the first time.
Thai sports fans had been supporting the team in its bid to reach the Olympics, including Kae, who is known for his love of volleyball. He also competes in the Thailand Men’s Volleyball League with Diamond Food Volleyball Club.
During the AVC Women’s Continental Championship, Kae told the media that he would run 100 laps around Wat Phra Kaew if Thailand’s women’s team won the Asian championship and qualified for the Olympics.
Wat Phra Kaew, also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha or Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram, is located in Bangkok.
After the team secured the championship, volleyball fans began asking Kae about his promise. He confirmed his plans in a Facebook post yesterday.
“A promise is a promise. I will run 100 laps around Wat Phra Kaew. I checked, one lap is 2 kilometres, so that means I have to run a total of 200 kilometres. I will break it down into segments, which might take about two months to complete. Ultimately, this run will be incredibly worthwhile.”
Many of Kae’s fans responded to the post with messages of encouragement, while others said they wanted to join him for the run. Kae has not yet announced when he will begin the 100-lap challenge.
