A festival of fitness for Phuket

PHUKET: The second Phuket Health and Fitness Festival, on May 18-19, will feature various events and activities, including yoga classes, lectures on well-being, raw food cooking classes, Zumba, a boot camp and the ultimate stand up paddle board (SUP) challenge.

The event aims to give the local community a fun, informative weekend that appeals to all ages, and it is this ethos that helped the Phuket Health and Fitness Festival attract around 200 visitors last year.

Michael Massey, director of Atmanjai Wellness Center and one of the members of the Rawai-Nai Harn Group, who are organizing the festival, believes that this year’s event will attract over 400 guests.

Michael outlines why the Rawai-Nai Harn Group decided to start the Phuket Health and Fitness Festival.

“We wanted to create an event for the local community that was different. A lot of places do wine and food based festivals and it seems that this area of the island – Rawai and Nai harn – has become a haven for health and wellness related businesses.”

Seminars and lectures at the festival will be given by some of the fitness world’s leading lights, such as rock star trainer Hayden Rhodes, who has travelled with rock bands to keep them fit, healthy and sober as much as possible. His talk will help those in attendance get inside secrets from a celebrity trainer and performance coach on the best ways to improve your body, health and energy (click here for full schedule of events).
