The report says officials are considering implementing new disease prevention measures such as a ban on alcohol sales in restaurants and limiting large gatherings. Yesterday, Thailand reported 3,899 new Covid-19 cases, with data showing Omicron infections have tripled compared to last month’s figures. Officials say that without disease prevention measures such as mandatory mask-wearing and regular testing, new cases could reach into the tens of thousands over the coming 2 weeks. I think that the fear of tens of thousands of new cases is pretty much inevitable given the situation we see in other countries and the speed in which daily infections are occurring/doubling in the Kingdom.

However, the number of daily infections doesn't seem to be the most relevant stat at the moment.

What is Thailand's hospitalization rate? What is Thailand's death rate?

I hope these numbers are used to make a decision, not a mere case count.

They likely won't be. Sadly.

Sigh...

Oh, shifting the focus from the "7 days of danger" back to the pandemic?

Ok, the 7 days of danger are in reality 7 out of 52x7 days,  so why change that view for a pandemic?

I live in the uk and the amount of cases for omicron last week was nearly 4 million!!!! surely herd immunity is just around the corner for the uk with that amount of cases? Plus a vast amount have had their booster jabs with me included, but it feels like the uk want to fight this covid head on and not hide behind rocks as that will never fix the problem.

The problem Scouserz is the Thai lack of vaccines in Thailand. Most were given a poor vaccine ( Sinovac )  that was as usefull as a Guitar without strings. Most have not even had any in the rural areas and the Thai Government allowed bars and Restaurants to stay open so Infections were bound to increase. There PM was gloating not long ago Omicron will not be allowed to enter Thailand on his watch, well its now beginning to surge due to him and his ignorance of listening and  acting on prevention. I am in the UK too Scouse and we found out how this variant rips through the country and the speed it has spread the Thai Government don't seam to appear how damaging this Omicron will do to Thailand. They will blame Tourists bringing it in and blame them for going to bars and restaurants when all along the Thai's are the one's spreading it around. They don't test enough so they will not realize there carriers as there are no symptoms.
