Maybe I'm slow of mind right now, but how does "there will be many passengers traveling via public transport this New Year holiday" imply "the measure is needed"?

There's a baseline for the number of people currently infected and a presumed <2% amount of travelers that will be asked (whatever that means) to submit to a test. Just do the maths...

I'm highly suspecting that every government-affiliated sector has been posed the question "tell me how you are going to contribute?" and that this kind of actions is what the brainstorm sessions came up with under duress.

Big hint to Thailand from Australia, where Omicron has taken hold. Stock up on rapid antigen tests.....

We have had them for sale widely for months now in Thailand. Walk into any pharmacy and they are on the shelf. Easy to stock up at home if you want and reduce some worry about a proper upcoming PCR test, and the wonderful mandatory quarantine that would entail.

When trying to fathom something that goes against logic and common sense use the money question.

"Who makes money who loses money?" Surprising the amount of clear understanding that follows.
