Supoj Malaniyom from the CCSA says Covid-19 screening will be intensified and the list of eligible countries will be revised. According to a Bangkok Post report, the CCSA is expected to identify a number of “high-risk” countries and will meet on Friday to decide the fate of the Test & Go scheme. “We’re monitoring the spread of Omicron in other countries, not just the UK. Very much expected. I expect all European countries and USA to be banned shortly. Japan, South korea, Singapore etc etc will probably be fine.

The Thai government is already struggling with the Thai pass and if they decide to make a drastic change and remove the " stop & go " that will mean all those thousands of potential visitors that have already booked to Thailand and are due to arrive over the next few weeks will have to reapply for the Thai Pass and the system is already max'd out and this will create chaos within the govt agency as they struggle to keep afloat with all the applications coming in . They will have to relook at thousands of applications all over again on top of all the new ones just coming in .

This will also become a nitemare for all the hotels as they have thousands books for the 1 day stay and go and then have to rebook all the tourists for 7 day stays and there won't be enough hotel space to cover that as hotels as already fully booked in alot of cases with the one day stays and cannot accommodate all the 7 days that will be necessary ..... what a mess that will be and what about those due in next week or the week after ?  They won't have the proper Thai Passes to allow enter because the government agency won't be able to handle the load in time

What should be done is the Thai govt allow those with approvals for the Thai pass to enter on the Stay & Go and those just sending in their applications will have to follow the new rules as of the date the government makes the news release with the new updates ...this way it will be a smooth transition otherwise it will be a complete mess ..... I really hope the government thinks this one through and takes the path with the least challenges during the transition

Thailand will be one of the only countries to implement such a move . Israel is the only other doing this and the world heath has said locking down is not the answer and will not stop omicron . Its already there and its probably alot more than what Thailand has found . Most people with Omicron have very mild infections if any . Lots who are positive are not being tested because they do not know they are sick ...truth . In a country where you have to pay to be tested those positive more than likely will not test because its so mild .

There are very few hospitalization and most are dealing with it from home . The story about the Columbian living in Thailand who tested positive after returning from Nigeria is a joke .

He is a pilot and was staying in a hotel and was tested twice ( 5 days apart )and both were negative ..... that means he was negative during his time in the hotel and then he goes home after stopping at a store and a while later gets sick and tests positive and so does his wife .

He picked up Omicron in Thailand not traveling abroad as they want you to think . No where else in the world has that happened where a person tests twice once with the PCR at the start and is found negative both times..... that story is so full of holes .... there is no possible way a person could test positive and then test again 5 days later then show up at home and few days later test positive and its found to be from traveling abroad ..... thats a complete lie .

People in Thailand already have it and its already spreading and the Thai government by imposing severe restrictions is not going to stop it .... The WHO has stated this  Omicron knows no barriers it cannot pass .... all you can do now is sit back follow the guidelines and hope its only mild like the rest of the world is experiencing

We'll have to wait and see the severity of infections, because information in incomplete.  Hopefully, it won't be as bad. However,  it does seem to spread very rapidly. That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see Thai authorities shutting things down. Because of uncertainty any travel, especially overseas in risky. If someone is risk tolerant fine, but everyone needs to be realistic.

Thailand will do what they think is best for those in leadership and isn't as worried about individuals who come. Leadership seems to be reasonably responsible so for and I feel safer living here.

Dont understand why people have to take long distance holidays when their countries are in the middle of a huge wave and are locked down or about to be.

There is a reason why your governments are locking you down, folks.

Regardless of whether the disease is actually serious or not, there is no need to fly around infecting others. Nobody wants to get sick. Just wait till the storm passes.

I think Singapore will be on any list since the last 3 Europeans came in via there but who knows. Looks like this will drag on until Fridays meeting before a decision is made.

Remember when a certain government official told everyone to enjoy their holiday and he would deal with the consequences afterwards, The horse has already bolted again I suspect even before the New Year get away this year.

They need to accept it's here and use facts to check it's severity before a knee jerk reaction yet again.  Medical science ahead of political ambition maybe.

At least they are allowing those already in the system to carry on.

Let's hope it's restarted in the New Year at some point when things have settled down.

What happens to those potentially affected by any change if allowed to board an international flight to Thailand (after Friday's CCSA meeting results are announced)? Are they unceremoniously turned around upon arrival in Thailand? Presumably any change coming out of Friday's CCSA meeting would be enforced at the departure gate to avoid people making the trip and being denied entry once they get here. Seems like anyone with a flight booked between Friday and Monday is in limbo. Maybe they grandfather in all previously approved Thailand Pass holders.

Existing Thai Pass approvals will be honoured.  Approx 200,000 persons I believe.  I wonder if Bocelli already has his pass? 😎
