Just to clarify....is this aimed at the restaurant restaurants or the pubs, pretending to be restaurants, to serve alcohol??

Having just returned from Bangkok, there was nothing more irritating than trying to get a meal in a decent restaurant and failing because most restaurants have been taken over by imbibers.  And, no social distancing whatsoever, with only a few (very few) places checking temperature or vaccination status. While I would prefer to see all the sex bars closed, and patrons gone elsewhere, if opening these bars keeps them out of family restaurants, let the bars open.

Really, I glad I'm not in Bangkok. But the days of wide open sex bars is gone. Traveler and resident sexpats need to find alternatives. Many bars are already bankrupt and/or closed. Nowhere is this clearer than Pattaya.

IMO Thailand will be much better off without the sexpat traveler or resident. The amount of money they bring in isn't worth it and it goes into the wrong hands. The sex scene is long overdue for change as Thailand progresses.

Bars are outdated, even  -  or particularly  -  for sexpats.

High street butchers, bakers and candlestick makers were replaced by supermarkets and shopping malls, and in turn they're getting replaced by on-line shopping.

It's not about "innocent souls", just about changing times.

Where in BKK are you talking about?

 

Because I would think would be easily solved by going to areas that don't have many "sexpats "

 

I would imagine the only are in Bangkok this would be an issue is lower Suk

 

Take the BTS one stop or two stops and doubt they are overtaken restaurants in Thonglor, Asoke or areas like Sathorn

Capitalism allowed supermakets and malls to take over hard working businesses like bakers, etc... in order to concentrate the wealth in the hands of a "few". The bakers etc... are now the employees and dependant of that "few" for a small salary instead of the full profit of their own hard work. Online shopping has been growing but never took over, rather went along. But then THE pandemic... funny enough, supermarkets and shopping malls are always the first things to reopen after lockdowns around the world (or in some cases, even the only things open during lockdowns). But for the sexe trade, it is a complete different story, by essence it does not live without human contact, online offers pornography not sex. If tomorrow everything reopens exactly as it was in 2019 (I am starting to doubt this will ever happen though!!!), I bet all bars will be full of girls and sex tourism all around Thailand would be as busy as before, or in fact even busier after a 2 years frustration. That will never change. Humans will be humans...athough that statement seems to be in stake as well nowadays.

Cor yeah, imagine that , going into a bar full of females who haven't had sex for two years and are all desperate for you to give them a good seeing to .

I think you're missing the point.

While "for the sexe trade, it is a complete different story, by essence it does not live without human contact, online offers pornography not sex" is true, and some go to those bars for "human contact", many go to simply pick up someone for paid sex. Since you can now do that "online" just as easily, without paying for over-priced drinks and a bar fine, many are doing that instead and that started well before Covid.
