Thailand’s construction tycoon Premchai Karnasuta was sentenced to 3 years and 2 months in jail without parole by the Supreme Court today for poaching and hunting a black panther in Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary in Kanchanaburi in February 2018. The Office of the Attorney General rushed out the announcement earlier so hurriedly that it underreported the sentencing of Premchai and Yong Dodkrua and Thanee Thummat, two of Premchai’s accomplices. Good. I hope he rots there, but sadly I know he won't; he has money.

I can live with people hunting for food and eating what they kill; we are carnivores, after all. However, hunting for sport or for collecting trophies is just evil.

If people want to hunt, they should get together with other people who want to hunt and hunt each other for sport. It'd be a simple matter of creating and signing a legal document stating that you were entering a contest where you could either kill or be killed and accepted the consequences. Put them into a fenced off area, and only allow one person to leave.

It'd be Darwinism at its finest.

He should have been given the full term as an example, never mind this BS of halving the sentence because he pleaded guilty, typical of Thai justice, now if he had been a nobody we all know what sort of sentence he would have received.

Prison, and the short sentence, is much to good for these types.

Never change their ways because of who and what they are.

Death is the only justice. 

Perhaps, he'll be taken care of while serving his time.

Of course, there wasn't any such mention as to where he'll be kept. 

My guess is that he'll be a guest at one of the special country club facilities.

Without parole? Really? Murderers, rapists, pedophiles, human traffickers, thieves, counterfeiters, all manner of lovely people are eligible to apply for parole after 33% of their sentence served. Being granted parole is a different story and takes months but Mr Moneybags shouldn’t have a problem with getting his application moved to the top of the inbox. Without parole? Maybe it was a special order from the court but I doubt that seeing as how one of his lackeys took the rap for actually killing the animal. If this guy didn’t kill the animal what was he actually doing there? Cleaning the guns? 

And kudos to the lowly paid forest ranger for not taking the bribe and reporting the attempt!

EDIT #2: BKK Post’s 2 articles about this sentence mention nothing about parole.

Not true, the panther is a carnivore, humans are omnivores. Much like rats, we will eat anything.

Did he offend people high up? usually he would be able to get off as a tycoon.

      Totally agree mate. Go to the Tiger bar complex at the top right of Bangla. There are about 40 beer bars in that complex. From the road it looks full. Go inside and head to the toilets at the rear and you will see it’s just the first 4 or 5 rows of bars that are open. After that they are all empty and up for rent or sale. The complex is running at 30%-40% in terms of open bars.       I got dengue in 2017. confirmed by bloodsamples in lab. Doctor wanted to load me up with a lot of antibiotics and vitamin. also said there is no real cure for it. Just a personal story. no recommendation here.

      "NO" exit? Couldn't Putin declare a unilateral cease fire, followed by a withdraw to 2014 pre-invasion borders? Seems like a fully acceptable exit plan wouldn't you agree? Russia flinched a long time ago. When they were forced to retreat from Kyiv, the West thought "wow, Ukraine might actually hold off Russia". All bets were off at that point. Russia's fault, blame them. Putin got himself into this mess, he can get himself out of it. Just end the war, it's really that simple.

      You have to realize that the West has also made this a path where there is NO exit strategy for neither Putin nor the Russian leadership. The moment Russia flinches a little is the moment the path towards "total victory" and "unconditional surrender" will be forged by the West. I really wish Zelensky would have any independent ability to take care of the best of his people now, but this is not something Langley, State department nor EU would accept. Only total destruction and complete neutering if Russia is their offer. Napoleon would offer better peace terms after he took Moscow and I don't even think German high command in 1942 would be much more demanding than the Wet of today. Now, Erdogan may be able to shift the tenson here. Maybe he will see the opprtunity to forge statecraft here instead of going for a pure transactional arrangement with NATO. One may hope.
