News Forum - Ukraine’s Zelensky defies Russia’s ultimatum to lay down weapons
No, what that means is Ukraine doesn’t feel the need to negotiate on Russia’s terms. The war isn’t going well for Russia. They are forced to drastically lower their scope in Donbas , they have been run out of Kyiv and Kharkiv. And they are digging in on the east side of the river in the south (while still occupying part of the west side). Says a lot and none of it good for Russia. By June it’s expected Ukraine will go on the offensive in the south. -

News Forum - Thailand tourism authorities expect 1 million arrivals per month starting June
They don’t even have the flights to hit these numbers. Malaysia, Sinagpore, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia make up a huge portion of arrivals but there’s not enough routes restored yet. I just took a trip to Singapore and it was tough to book the flight because there’s so few. Sinagpore airlines was 20,000 baht return economy! It will take months to restore the routes meanwhile the airports aren’t set up to receive them. Is DMK even taking international arrivals? Meanwhile half of Suvarnabhumi’s are closed for renovation. Rather than predicting an increase in numbers the government could be doing things to encourage them like getting rid of Thai pass, eliminating other mandatory covid regulations. -

Effective start date for o-a visa?
Ok I just read your Non Imm O-A Visa document. My understanding after reading it is that to continue my stay in Thailand with my first 1 year O-A visa that has a POS expiry date of July 29 I can either leave the country and return before the POS expiry date which will extend my POS for 1 year (provided I have health coverage for 1 year) from return date of entry or I can apply for a new O-A visa prior to July 29th at my local immigration office. In both scenarios I need to provide health insurance documentation and proof of income I think. Maybe not proof of income for POS extension if I do a border run? If this is correct I am not sure what the advantage might be to doing a border run, at least for me. I can get a proof of income certificate from the Canadian Consul according to my Canadian friends here in Chiangmai. A bigger issue may be health insurance at age 75. Am I understanding this correctly or am I missing something? Much appreciate the comments and advice provided by you and the other respondents to my question on this topic. -

That tarantula must be on the staff at the TAT. The airlines are doing their best to make sure this doesn't happen as well, I have only looked at the UK prices but at the moment an economy return LHR-BKK for July and August is north of £1000, which is at least double the lowest pre-CoVID price. -
