The gutless athletes will all go using the "i've been training for years"  excuse, after being instructed (pressured) to go by their sports governing bodies who are only concearned about £ and $.

We saw this over the weekend when Hamilton after all his support and big proud voice about all things 'equality' bent over like a cheap hooker for the Saudi's

How awful it would be if a new strain covid outbreak was discovered in the land of all things nasty a month prior to the games and all travel there was banned.

B. It's not China's fault they their loanees are struggling. They dont have to borrow.

For some time now. I've had an impression of China being a bit like a mafia loan shark lending to a small business. They don't want that loan repaid. What they really want is the borrowers business to legitimise themselves as "partners". Before they know it, the Mafia is making all the decisions.

Just to put your sweeping condemnation of all olympic athletes as "gutless" for " "using the "ive been training for years" excuse" into perspective, maybe you could detail how much training you put into reaching your own peak of sporting prowess?

Or what you've given up to make a similar political point?

If a government isn't prepared to do anything about what it sees as another countries' misdeeds, neither the government nor anyone else have any right to expect others to do their job for them from the comfort of their armchair.

Well, other countries always have the option of lending or giving them the money instead, putting the "Mafia" out of business.

what is to gain from this diplomatic boycott, athletes are attending the olympics

china wont care much about it ?

Exactly, and since spectators are only by invitation and are screened for Covid,  its a completely empty gesture. A lot of noise about nothing.
