90 Day Reporting and Passport Renewal

Recommended Posts

Did you use an agent for Passport renewal?

If you applied directly the old Passport should be handed back until such time the new Passport arrives.

You could try the 90 day online reporting system.

2 thoughts [in no order];

1st, contact your embassy and ask for a signed statement  of what has occurred

 2nd, contact the authorities, tell them what has happened to you and ask them if there are any ways around it

You have to submit your old passport with your renewal application to the US Embassy. They said it takes 2 to 4 weeks to get your new passport and the return your old passport.

When I applied in person at the Chiang Mai consulate they clipped a corner and handed the pp back to me.

Immigration also said they would process a 90day report with a copy.

PP took about 2 weeks as I recall. Very quick.

They really shouldn't keep the old Passport.

They also clip the corner of UK Passports, but only when issuing the new one.

They do not keep your old passport.  They return it invalidated with your new pasport.

Maybe, because the passport renewal is done by mail.

The US Embassy has to verify the personal information on the existing passport to the renewal application.

Can any one confirm this?

Anyone know if the passport application is sent by the US Embassy to the State Department and processed in the US and sent by the State Department back to the passport holder or,

Is the new passport processed at the US Embassy an then sent to the passport holder?
