News Forum - Japan government says masks not needed outside if you don’t talk too much
The only thing stopping me going to Thailand now for nine months is having to wear a mask, it is too hot to wear a mask. Here in the UK it is a pleasant sunny 21C, everything has been open fully for months, no masks, so why go to Thailand now and live in a lockdown situation while having to were a mask ? -

News Forum - 5 countries’ representatives walk out when Russian official speaks in Bangkok
It is a legitimate government because the elections were were free and considered fair by disinterested international observers. I remind you that the UN was present and observing the election. There were 43 voting rounds and a total of 38 presidential candidates. The election result was notable for its peaceful transition with the previous president both accepting the result and offering his tacit support. The population has accepted the election result. You have no basis with which to question the election. Somalia is fighting a foreign backed terrorist insurrection led by Al Quaidah affiliated El Shebab. The Somali government is acting to protect its population from jihadists who wish to bring a Taliban like state to Somalia. Why are you protesting the Somali governments legitimacy and legal right to defend itself, and why do you support the El Shebab jihadi attacks? -

News Forum - Bangkok virologist says Thais should stay calm over monkeypox
There is a significant risk associated with monkeypox and it presents a risk to the under age 40 population. The African data indicates a heavy fatality rate in children. For example, https://europepmc.org/article/med/27783372 The fatality was 67% among children less than 10 years The basis for some health specialists in adopting a no need to worry approach is their reliance on the successful mass vaccination against smallpox. It is believed that the smallpox vaccine works against monkeypox too. Much of the world was vaccinated against smallpox and the disease disappeared. There haven't been mass small pox vaccinations in the world since the 1980's, so a large number of people under the age of 40 have no protection. These are the people who are now reporting infections. There is no hysteria, but the infections are showing exponential growth. There is no fear porn. If you wish to go into denial so be it. As of May 20 there were 39 cases* (https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/news-events/epidemiological-update-monkeypox-outbreak) confirmed in the western world. Earlier in the week there were only 5 confirmed cases. In addition, there are an expected 42 additional cases. Lisbon, Portugal and Montreal, Canada are the hotspots with 34 confirmed and suspected cases in Lisbon and 19 confirmed and suspected cases in Montreal. These were local infections and did not involve travelers. Despite the initial explanation that the infection is associated with males having sex with each other (because all of the Madrid Spain and Berlin Germany cases reflected that) , the Lisbon and Montreal cases indicate that the infection is now in the general population. The concern is if the monkey pox enters the pediatric population. No, the world will not be as negatively impacted as is the case of Covid and most 40+year olds have nothing to much to worry about. However, if the infection is not contained and enters the unvaccinated pediatric population, there is the potential for thousand's of children to clog up the healthcare system with many dying. -

Non-Immigrant O Visa Health Insurance
We are probably going to stay longer than 90days, so would like an Non-Immigrant O Visa than an option to renew for a year. I could not find a reference to a 60 day Tourist Visa on the UK Thai Embassy Website. A lot of what I have read says you cannot apply for a Non-Immigrant O Visa when in Thailand on a Tourist visa. I have double checked with the UK Embassy and its definitely 400,000IPD/40,000OPD and USD100,000 over all, for 90 day O Visa (Same as the 1 year O-A requirement!). Talked with a few brokers and hardly any Thai insurance company seems to offer this level of cover for 90 days. Pacific Cross has a very expensive 90 day STV policy. I think I may as well take out a years policy with someone like LMG. Designed for O-A but meets the O requirements. Thanks for all the help and advice so far. -
