The fruitcake should get the sack, gun confiscated and given some jail time.

He should know that a gun round can end up anywhere over quite a distance, even one diverted by a wing mirror. He was lucky it didn't end up injuring someone.

The bus driver taking off may have saved the girl's life too....

No joke can make it less scary than the obvious emotional insecurity of a person empowered to carry a weapon indicates  he should never have become a policeman. Next he might have emptied his gun into the back of a man in a wheelchair ! Ooops!
