Temporarily ??!!  If the UN ever recognises the Myanmar Junta after what they have done, then the UN should be disbanded, or at the least defunded by all western Democracies.  Appeasement and 'open dialogue' has never worked with despots and tyrants.

Shut down all communication, borders and flights in or out and truly isolate these ratbags until they come to their senses.  Humanitarian efforts only feed them too, so yes shut those down also.

Anyone who doesn't think these ratbags pick over the humanitarian aid before it is distributed to their mates are living in fantasy land, aid keeps them healthy so that they can kill a few more innocent.

Junta , me thinks a lesson or two can be learned by the dictatorship in Thailand’s neighboring country !

If they would only follow Thailand’s current regime’s activities in preparation for  elections from 2014 to present ,the junta in Myanmar could easily be in the graces of the so called UN.
How the glorified security guard  here ever got away without serious condemnation by the UN, is beyond ,beyond.

UN repeated & abundant hypocrisy. these parties are hardly worse than the butchers of beijing, pyongyang, tehran, damascus, khartoum, etc, who are not only “legitimised” at UN but sit on their “human rights council”. UN an absolute useless disgrace since1950. needs splitting into free nations (UFN) and crap countries (UCC) …..with zero contact between the two factions.

UN recognition would give these "governments" legitimacy...which is precisely why they won't be recognised.

I'd like to think you are right, but so often the UN has adopted LBJ's doctrine that, "It is better to have these people inside the tent peeing out, than outside the tent peeing in".

LBJ was always a pragmatist. He said of Marshall Ky of VN, "I know he's a corrupt despotic b*****d, bit he's our corrupt despotic b*****d".

The problem with pragmatism is that it tends to ignore the good that might be done in "doing the right thing".

They tried to shut down Nth Korea nicely but the Chinese just ignore most sanctions and give the beach ball most of what he wants including the return of people who escape Nth Korea.

Myanmar have plenty of untapped esources also.

Myanmar can avoid resource curse | The Myanmar Times (mmtimes.com)

Tin,copper, tungsten, zinc, jade, rubies, sapphires and also has its own oil and gas with a sizeable gas province off the coast

All the way with LBJ! Very thoughtful John! he visited Brisbane...my hometown...during his presidency. I agree with you. we should never deny the good.

Yet, ever notice how convenient that the real evil in the world is never recognized by such bogus bodies as the U.N. and their usual f_uckwitted romancers.

Why is this?
