Listen, I understand nobody never died before covid, and all of those people who did die of covid would still be alive and healthy today if it wasnt for covid but I think its time we move on.

That is so profound!

Of course the new variant is in Thailand, its all over the world. Its just the symptoms are so minimal that nobody has noticed. Sore muscles for two days? Yeh let's lock down for that. What a joke.

I don't have the slightest clue what you just said......

No you obviously do not, not sure why you commented on my comment then. Politicians worldwide do not wish to be blamed in the future for not having done enough, so they are doing too much. Get it now? Political decisions, not rational scientific ones. Cause regardless which country, there are always some elections coming up eventually.

here is the title for those who will not follow the link.

"Could Omicron be GOOD news? Variant 'might speed up end of pandemic if it causes mild illness' as South Africa records NO hospital admissions or deaths from super strain - but scientists won't know for at least two weeks"

not very much fear in this article.

Exactly nothing about fear virologists see it as it is good sign it is mutating in this direction.

Yeah no fear at all in fact. I bet some are already starting to worry about that...

Go back and read your last reply

It was barely English

But I understand what you are saying now and I see your point

I thought you were saying politicians were locking down to gain favor

Which is something the right does say

But I don't disagree with what you have stated

And even the Biontech Ceo (developper of the pfizer/biontech vaccine) people should come down and not freak out it is absolut unlikly that the new variant brings any serious symptoms especially when you are vaccinated. They studied the new variant because if they have to adopt it on the vaccines it seems unlikly and will it monitor it. The bigger worry are the former variants like the delta variant. If even the vaccine producer not share their panic view says a lot.

Yes let’s have a person who has zero training in communicable disease outbreaks or any medical or statistical training, make the decision about lockdowns. Leader by fear 😅

these decisions need to be made by elected political leaders not scientists who should advise only.these tecnocrats, being near universally “liberal” (socialist), would have had us in perpetual “zero covid” lockdown forever since March 2020, with no real consideration of social or economic consequences.this would of course have suited authoritarian states like China & TL, and liberal nanny states like AusNZ, no end.

PM might lock down again, however we need to think logically, is the solution ?  Lock down would not improve situation, rather you will find a special breed of people who are evolved by the pandemic.

Expecting More ill mind set with Greed to Grab, Robbing, Easy Money Making would crop up fully.

we need to start living with situation and understand protection is the top most criteria , possibly wearing space suits and live.

Please understand this is not the first time world is going thro this turmoil , there are many ancient civilization died in the similar manner.

Around the world pandemic will raise up again.

Well certainly if the general public became aware then perhaps a government enforced lockdown could perhaps be the "straw that breaks the camels back", and I think that the potential for Omicron to infect larger numbers will be of a secondary issue.

They won’t lockdown everything, especially essential services. Closing places that are most likely to cause the virus spreading would make sense. The average Thai would not be greatly affected.
