The BTS is one of the best and easiest to navigate transports in the world, IMO

It will certainly relieve some traffic congestions on Srinakarain Rd which is usually like a moving carpark!

I guess you have not used the subway/train systems in many other asian cities like Taiwan, Seoul, Singapore, Hongkong, Shanghai, Beijing and Tokyo    bkk is last in asia on the preceding list

Nope. Not many stations or lines. Doesn't go to enough places. No integrated payment system. No 24 hour service .

Would you believe I have?

And I still think it is as good and by far, the easiest to navigate than all those other ones

 

It's almost a straight line, in a lot of cases. And a very easy to read map to choose your staation

 

Compare that to Hong Kong and Tokyo, both very good train systems but much more complicated for a 1st time tourist to use than the BTS, IMO

Any addition to help Bangkok's crippling traffic gridlock a good thing.  My wife and I have a small studio apartment in Sumrong on Dan Sumrong Rd which we use at times when not in Bang Saray.  In fact, we are half way between 2 BTS stations now ..... the existing one at Imperial World and now the soon to be new one in the opposite direction.  Both a 5 minute Tuk Tuk ride either way.  And although having a car the BTS is ideal for us.  So in our case, couldn't be happier. As for ease of use ..... not a problem but other than Hong Kong I have experienced the others mentioned by the previous posters.  Cheers.
