Good move. If only the WHO hadn't moaned and stomped its feet about banning flights from China at the beginning....maybe it would have been a different outcome.

By early next year there will be enough spread of this variant here to bring in a whole raft of new restrictions. The past use of an inferior vaccine has left a large part of the Thai population virtually defenceless against Omicron and the booster shot programme will be overwhelmed by new cases. So Covid continues to be the gift that gives to the control freaks in government who have been responsible for the destruction of so many livelihoods amongst ordinary people.

Yes and the South African Health officials were very responsible and alerted the world immediately. Can’t say much fir the evil CCP covering cover up letting their creation to spread to the world on a rage to kill. The world plainly needs to unite and push the CCP to the abyss where they belong. Kudos to responsible nations and authorities.

imo, the Thai government, and all governments, should slam all the borders closed again, make vaccination mandatory and wait. People are NOT dying from hunger  from lack of money but they are dying from this illness you can catch from breathing the air. BREATHING!

Well said Mate - and a lot of people are of the same opinion.  That we (the western world) allowed that evil  communist dictatorship to join the world trade and get extremely rich and powerful, is a disgrace to democracy. So many western businesses gleefully 'indulged' in their slave labour, non-existent HR and Safety rules, and massively scaled cheap manufacturing - all for profit and bonuses.  That WHO bypassed Xi and called it Omicron speaks volumes of the power and control that China now exerts. And just like their complete refusal to support the World at the climate change meeting in UK, they are doing SFA for the benefit of the world - they do everything for themselves - everything.

You are right - and it is a bit of a catch 22. Thais love life and live so positively - I certainly dont want them becoming like so much of the western world which is all about negativity. But it would be good to see more than just the younger ones expressing their desire for change. I  do hope that they remember what those in charge have done for the last 6-7 years - when the elections happen in 2023 and the pandemic is (hopefully) over.

It is not all about you is it mate?  That shows where the divide is between people about things like a new version of covid. There are those who are concerned about everyone including themselves, and there are those who only care about themselves.

Lots of people here asking why bother with masks, social distancing, vaccines, just Let Her Rip. Two years and they still haven't figured out why restrictions are put in place. It's simple. If the authorities just Let Her Rip so many people will get a serious case of Covid that the hospitals will full up until they are overflowing and the health care system will be overwhelmed. Duh-oh!

Yes of course people die every day of other things. So does that mean the world should just accept that another 3 to 5 million additional people should die just so people can go out and party and not have to wear a mask to protect people. And what do you do when the hospitalisations spike and there are no beds to treat cancers, heart attacks or road traffic accidents resulting in even more premature deaths? Can you answer that please?
 

It’s utterly crazy to think it’s ok to just let things run it’s course without trying to minimise it’s impact. How can you be so obtuse ?

As I said to someone else. I think better that people who won’t wear masks, socially distance and keep away from high risk settings should lock yourself away. Those who are careful can then go about their business and this virus would eventually receded. It’s the “Let it rip” types that are causing this virus to continue to circulate and mutate.

People with that attitude employed the charge from the trench battle tactic from WW1. Resounding success wasn’t it? We all die one day so it may as well be today! “Collateral damage” and all those euphemisms we employ to soften the truth. And I refuse to believe that 99.6% of the world’s people are so selfish or apathetic that the possibility to reduce suffering and death on a global scale takes a backseat to having a good time and the pursuit of the almighty dollar.

As I read the reports from the specialists in Germany also from the developper of Pfizer, Biontech in Germany who are already on that because its their job and connected with hospitals/health authorities and already have the variant in their own laborities I am a bit surprised about the different infos now. The hospitals are not overhelmed there because the symptoms are milder, the patients with symptoms had 2 days muscle pain, headache and not had to be hospitalized and thats the actual info from the ones who has to be forefront and has to have it on the radar because they are responsible for the vaccines. Yes it is more infectious and they will make another 2 weeks more testings about if they need it to adopt to the vaccines (mrna vaccines) but this they can do quickly but is not the case yet.

Well the thing is, what kind of world would we be living nowaways if the headlines were reassuring, or at least not speculating, panicking... This is the "new normal" world after all. Indeed I have read the same news you are describing on differents medias. And the average daily death rate in SA for the last 14 days, since this variant has been discovered: 2. Apart from that, that's all we know so far, so no need for speculation and panic, even for those that seem to enjoy it so much.

It is also a quite disturbing their surprising and panic about that it is more infectious because it is a known fact that is in the target and program of the sars covid virus and nothing of surprise, but on the other hand no word about less hospitalization and riding on the more infectious wave.

Yeah, but there might be time as new variants emerge to use XI. Maybe that will have to be used when it becomes the most dangerous fatal mutation and the WHO has their head finally out of his rear-end and taking the CCP's buy you off funds. I really don't care what anyone says as in it is a naturally jumping evolution mutated virus, because everything else points to the lab and the CCP's actions that they either let it slip out purposely or it got out by mistake after they armed it. I just hope mankind gets lucky with this Omicron mutation and it is not as harsh as the suspect it to be and we keep striving to reach a point of normality. But then again with XI's push to take the world, even if the virus is restrained to a point, they are not and WWlll is looking like on the horizon, that is unless the Allies let their tails slip under and over their genital's. Russia is another one. We should be looking to contain the virus and hold hands in this world, not try to take over people and countries territory and dominate enslaving them.
