Revisions to a law that pertains to civil partnerships will be expedited, according to Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krae-ngam. This announcement comes on the heels of a court ruling in favour of a law that essentially bans gay marriage in Thailand. The Deputy PM went on to say that these revisions are being made to “protect the rights of all genders.” Wednesday the Constitutional Court upheld the language in Section 1448 of the Civil and Commercial Code that defined marriage as being between a man and a woman. While the government has been drafting a law for civil partnerships, it isn’t legally marriage and doesn’t have the same benefits.

So you've said before, @Thaiger, that the proposed Civil Partnership "doesn't have the same benefits" as marriage, but the Bangkok Post (your source) doesn't say that nor do any previous mainstream media reports which give the only difference as adoption rights which are covered under separate legislation.

Could you elaborate on exactly what benefits aren't the same?

According to the Bangkok Post:

"Natthawut Buaprathum and Tunyawaj Kamolwongwat, MPs for the Move Forward Party, on Thursday said the opposition group will push ahead with its plan to amend Section 1448 of the Civil and Commercial Code and 69 related sections.

Mr Tunyawaj said the party's amendment draft has been submitted to the House of Representatives."

So yet again any progress takes a back seat to party politics, as the Move Forward Party appears to be no more willing to reach across the aisle for common ground than anyone else in Thai politics, opposing for the sake of opposing even when the country has a chance to 'Move Forward' together on an issue which has no red / yellow to it.

All rather disappointing for the future of Thai politics.

Maybe it's worth pointing out that while the headline of the article is correct ('Government to expedite the revision of the civil partnership bill for same-sex couples'), the headline of this thread is very different ('Thai gender and marriage bills to be revised by government') and isn't - while Move Forward has asked for the marriage laws (not 'bills') to be revised it's unlikely they will be.
