Interesting to watch ladies. Thank you Natty for explaining the custom. It's a nice try at something biodegradable. I wouldn't want to be the fish that eats it. In fresh water locals maybe. But the artificial colours are a contaminant. Fresh water fish may be able to digest the bread, but saltwater fish will die, because they can't digest it. I remember seeing the fresh water fish in the river near running through Bangkok being fed all manor of food by people. It looks good, but the long term effect...not so good! also, feeding bread to tropical fish kills them. They also stop feeding on corals which ends up killing the corals. Time to come up with something truly beneficial to the fish for this festival. You could both start an environmental movement that could transform this festival into something great for the environment and the soul!
