Indeed this is one thing to keep in mind. If US will stop making RT-PCR tests available, the other countries likely have this in mind too because there are many better and maybe cheaper tests in use now. 
I don’t have much faith in the Thailand officials though when they drop the ball on switching to other acceptable pre-flight testing, maybe causing more hassles for incoming travelers

I did, but the "home-use" tests in the article seem to be even less accurate than either rapid flow or PCR tests!

Cheaper and quicker, yes, but what tests are "better"?
